Act of Incorporation
The Baptist Churches of Tasmania are incorporated under an Act of Parliament, namely the Baptist Union Incorporation Act 1902.
In 2006, an application was made to the Department of Premier and Cabinet of the Tasmanian Parliament, to have this Act amended, in such a way that both simplified the Act and established an environment which gave us the legal framework necessary for our churches to function, whilst allowing changes to be made more easily to the Constitution under which we operate, by the gathered representative delegates from our churches at an Assembly.
The requested changes were approved by the Parliament and were applied on 18th December 2006. The Act may be downloaded from the following link.
