Dayspring Ministry Centre
In 2001 our Dayspring Ministry Centre was established in Launceston. Previously the Union offices had been in rented premises. With the provision of bequest funds from the Duncan Trust, the vision of more suitable accommodation became possible.
The vision was to provide a conducive, welcoming environment, functional for administration, yet with a "homely" ambiance. Our centre is set in a neighbourhood ethos rather than a commercial one and is enhanced by a small garden for beauty and refreshment.
Because we seek to place prayer at the centre of Baptist life and mission, we have reserved sections of the garden for this focus as well as a dedicated prayer room within the office environment.
The name Dayspring comes from Luke 1:78 and speaks of the promise of renewal and hope through Jesus. The centre houses administrative offices, prayer room, interview room and seminar room. It is the setting for meetings of several Union task forces or committees and for quarterly sessions of Union Council. It also provides a suitable environment for the ministry of spiritual direction, personal mentoring and quiet day retreats.
