PROPERTY MATTERS

Under the Baptist Union Incorporation Act 1902, the Title Deeds to most of the properties owned by our Baptist Churches are held in the name of the Baptist Union of Tasmania.  The Union holds these properties in trust for the churches.  This alleviates the need for churches to be incorporated in their own right, or to have 'Trustees' to hold the deeds to the propertyl;.

Matters of purchase, sale, mortgage or leasing of property must be referred to Union Council who will act, under the terms of the Union Trusts, on behalf of the members of the local church, made at a church meeting convened specifically for that purpose, with notice of meeting having been given on at least 2 successive Sundays immediately preceding the date of the meeting.
